Six members of Kent Woodcarvers spent a day at The Bearded Pig Forge in Quex Park, Birchington. Blacksmith Spike Martin demonstrated the processes involved in forging, hardening, tempering and grinding a knife blade. He had also produced a number of blades commissioned by members for collection on the day. Spike is a skilled craftsman and an entertaining and engaging teacher. This made for an interesting, informative and enjoyable day.
