I was collecting my daughter from University in Bangor and ‘happened’ to run into a wood festival in the area. (http://www.woodfestwales.co.uk) It is set up as quite a family day out, with a variety of wood related events and a fun fair. As you can see from the photographs, one of the major attractions from my own viewpoint was the results of a set of chainsaw carvers. The work varied in subject, and to be honest standard, but the majority was excellent. We even managed to see a 15 minute chainsaw speed carving session – it was amazing what this lot can do in such a small amount of time.
These weren’t the only attractions for the wood carver. I managed to expand my tool collection, and there was a fair selection of crafts and wooden items for sale – along with food (of course). All in all a fun time, with events for much of the family within a wood-based theme.
